Behind the Song,
This release has been just that...a release. A grip so tightly held, so deeply felt, finally let go to whomever would listen. I wrote Sign of the Times (SOTT) January 01, 2019 into the early morning hours of the day that followed. Not sure that I’ve felt as much anguish & grief between pen & paper as I did that night. The world I saw outside was fading fast & in desperate need of a Savior. I quickly contacted my dear friend & producer, thinking this would surely be the first thing people heard from me, due to the urgency of the message. I made demos, then together we recorded the song, but it just wasn’t sitting right. I wanted desperately to release it, but I was continually led to wait. So I put out an EP without it, still listening, still waiting. Until that same cry for a Savior became too loud to ignore. Suddenly it seemed to be heard around the world, as none could predict what 2020 would hold. In July we re-recorded it with full band ready to release because there’s something about a world that knows it’s need, one that can no longer shy away from tough realities. A bare and naked world lays before us, but oh, the harvest is ripe. I pray in these uncertain times, this song would continue the stirring & push its listeners towards an earnest & urgent seeking of Christ.
